RHOME PROJECT : How it started
Hi reader👋, am glad you dropped by to read our medium post on RHOME INITIATIVE. I am Josh — one of the team members of the Rhome City Initiative (RCI) Project. I’m writing here so that I can educate my readers on what RHOME is, how it started and a little on what the future holds for the project.
HOW IT STARTED
The RCI is the brainchild of RHOME SOLUTIONS LTD. The organization was formed by a group of community members from Crypto Trade World (CTW) WhatsApp group, in Nigeria. This community has been created since 29th of July, 2015 by one, SAMSON IMOUDU EZEKIEL. The CTW community is diverse with individuals from all parts of Nigeria.
Originally, the group only serves for peer to peer trading of crypto-currency among members and also, experienced members provides education and investment advice/discussions among themselves. Over the years there has been a bond of brotherliness, transparency and trust that has existed among the group members of CTW from around the nation. I could say over 95% trust prevailed among them. At the time of this writing, CTW is a private group with about 50 members. The group has evolved from just a whatsApp group to becoming an association, which is purported to achieve a common goal.
HOW WAS RCI BORN?
On December 8th 2020, A long time community member since 2017, JOSHUA ERHIGA E by name, had proposed for the community to become a more robust body (i.e it should be an organization) by developing a tokenized, community based, and utility project with the goal of wealth and value creation.
The screenshots above were the propositions from Joshua. And there was a poll were about 77% community voted in support to the Initiative. This gave birth to RHOME SOLUTIONS LIMITED. Samson Imoudu, who originally owned the group became Project lead and others had been enlisted to the RCI TEAM.
The organization is being registered with the corporate affairs commission (CAC) by Samson Imoudu E. in Nigeria at the time this article is written. All verifiable member of the CTW are absorbed as foundation members and forerunner of the RCI project.
Later, Joshua Erhiga, Samson Imoudu and Nathan Alade developed an initial whitepaper, along with a fullscaled web presence. The project is set for pre-launch.
WHAT IS RHOME, ACTUALLY?
RHOME — RENT A HOME is a utility asset of the Rhome City Initiative for renting of accommodations on Rhome Hostels, Housing Complexes and Properties within Nigeria & Africa. Also, we are utilizing lands as an asset within the confines of the Rhome City Initiative.
The Rhome ($RHM) token is issued on the waves-protocol and will be made available to the public in stages as project unfolds. In the future of Rhome City Initiative (RCI), the Rhome (RHM) token will fuel several utilities within the allowable ecosystem of RHOME SOLUTIONS LTD.
WHAT PROBLEM WILL RHOME SOLVE?
The West African country – Nigeria, with a population of over 200 million citizens, makes up an essential part of the African economy. With a GDP just under $450 billion, Nigeria holds the position of the richest country in Africa. Yet, there is a major housing deficit for Nigerian citizens.
There is a huge housing shortage withing the academic corridor. There is a total of 157 Universities, 50 Colleges of Health Technology and Allied institutions, 132 Technical colleges, 100 Approved VEIs/IEIs Colleges of education, and 76 Polytechnics in Nigeria. And on a yearly bases, the educational arena admits an average of 1,100,000 potential students as new intake.
Out side of the education sector, there is also a major homes and accommodation deficit in Nigeria. As at 2020, there is close to twenty-two million housing deficits in Nigeria (i.e 22 million potential housing needs).
How much more other Africa countries?
WHAT IS THE GOAL OF RHOME CITY INITIATIVE?
- We are solving housing deficit with low income housing within African countries to the tune of 100,000 housing units in each country of interest.
- We are industrializing Sub-urban and Rural areas by turning them to cities with terrace buildings that are affordable.
- With RHOME Asset, community can Invest, Rent, Earn and Trade to own properties.
- We are bringing blockchain to the people and making it easy using waves-protocol.
- We are making blockchain payments easy
The RHOME PROJECT is set to have it’s Pre-launch in Q1, 2021, as the development team completes incorporation. Team is currently made up of 8 professionals with 4 real estate personnel with proven years of experience. Some major partnership are rolling in from real estate experts and agents.
